Some of the world's greatest and longest lasting inventions are the simplest.  The pool noodle, that ubiquitous foam tube with a hollow center is no exception.  Who would have thought that this simplistic creation would literally be everywhere?  As is usually the case, these simplistic inventions spawn derivative inventions, including  ways to adapt these inventions for other useful purposes.  This post from Raising Arizona Kids presents one such use of the pool noodle, the pool noodle sailboat.
