Nation’s first ‘natural’ public swimming pool will rely on plants and biological filters, rather than chlorine and chemicals

With the American population become not only more health conscious, but environmentally conscious, people have begun to rethink many of their recreational activities through this lens.  People are considering hybrid cars, looking at energy-efficient appliances, recycling, and looking at sustainable activites such as rainwater re-capture and utilizing recycled products.  Now the local swimming pool can provide the salve for the environmentally-conscious swimmer, at least in Minneapolis.  A former swimming hole is getting a facelift, and is becoming the Country’s first Natural Swimming pool.  Natural swimming pools utilize plant life to mimic nature’s filtration mechanism, and provide a much different experience for the swimmer.
