The Movie Premiere In a Swimming Pool

The new film Life of Pi made a splash at its Paris premiere — literally. (click here for the original post)

Instead of conventional theater seating, the lucky moviegoers watched the film from lifeboats in an 108-foot long indoor swimming pool.

According to the LA Times, the screening took place the 1930’s-build Espace Sportif Pailleron, which boasts a recently-restored Art Deco interior and Paris’ only permanent ice rink.

But no swimming or skating took place — attendees took to bays of lifeboats, each with life preservers (which some attendees wore during the screening), for a cinematic experience that created a deeper connection to the film’s main character, Pi. (No word on if tigers were also in attendance.)
