Platinum Pool is pleased to present the West Swim Club project. Located in Willowbrook, IL, this amazing swimming pool training facility is utilized to train Grade School, Middle School, High School and College swimmers from all the surrounding areas.
The project consists of 3 Lap Pools measuring 28’0″ x 75’0″. Two of the pools are connected by a swim channel, as they had to be constructed around existing structural roof support beams.
The collective overall water surface area is 6,577 square feet, with a total capacity of 241,327 gallons. The pumping system recirculates at a rate of 671 gallons per minute.
Constructed inside an existing warehouse, this project provided some unique challenges.
The pool is outfitted with a custom stainless steel perimeter rim flow recirculation gutter system with pvc grating. The gutter has a stainless steel deck drain welded directly to the back of the gutter, providing the most efficient means of separating process water from sanitary water from the deck.
The equipment required to keep this facility clean and efficent is state-of-the-art. The filter is a Neptune Benson “Defender” regenerative Diatomaceous Earth filter.
Utilizing a 20 horsepower Paco filtration pump controlled by an ABB variable frequency drive, the pool has all of the recirculation power necessary to keep water moving through the system.
For sanitizers, the pool utilizes 2 Prominent Chemical Control Systems, 2 Axiall Calcium Hypochlorite Chlorinators, 2 Stenner Acid metering pumps, and a Prominent 5KW Ultra Violet Disinfection system.
Keeping the swimmers warm is a Lochinvar 1,262,000 BTU natural gas heater.
To faciliate the simulation and training for competition, the pool has Keifer starting platforms with sidesteps, integral side rails, foot chock, and a custom imprinted logo with the insignia of the facility.
The interior surface of the pool is white marcite plaster with ceramic tile racing lanes and targets.
This facility is sure to turn out swimming champions from all over the area for many years to come.
