A Gallery Of Luxurious Private Swimming Pools

From Architectural Digest

When one is thinking about desiging an inground swimming pool for one’s one home, usually the first step is to start looking at pictures of other swimming pools.  Websites and services like Houzz, Pinterest, Facebook, and Google Image searches are very popular ways to start viewing other finished inground swimming pool projects and to start saving ideas and features that one wants for their own project.  This post from Architectural Digest does the work for you, however, by presenting some amazingly elegant private residential swimming pool projects in this fabulous gallery.

Here is an excerpt from the post:

For a residence he designed in Rancho Santa Fe, California, architect Wallace E. Cunningham built a circular retaining wall around the property, forming an infinity pool that melts into the horizon and eliminates the sight of nearby houses. “We masked the visual noise in the landscape and focused on its serene aspects,” he notes. (October 2003)

“It’s my own piece of Los Angeles,” designer Thomas Pheasant says of the rear garden and pool area of his classically inspired contemporary residence in D.C. Although Pheasant created the poolhouse with a Palladian façade, he used stucco for the walls and Spanish-style tiles for the roof. “It’s very un-Washington.” (September 2009)
